Morning
Coffee
Coutume Café
35 minute walk from the hotel, or Metro if you'd rather save your steps for later.
Cross the Seine into the Left Bank and begin the day at one of Paris' pioneering specialty coffee roasters. The walk itself is part of the experience as the city gradually shifts from the busy center into the quieter streets of Saint-Germain-des-Prés.
Up Next → Wander Saint-Germain
Explore Saint-Germain-des-Prés
There is intentionally no schedule this morning.
Wander wherever looks interesting rather than following a rigid route. Saint-Germain rewards curiosity more than planning.
Recommended streets include:
- Rue du Bac
- Rue Jacob
- Rue Bonaparte
- Rue du Cherche-Midi
- Boulevard Saint-Germain
Browse bookstores, galleries, chocolate shops, wine stores, design boutiques and hidden courtyards. Stop whenever something catches your eye.

Lunch
Pick Up Lunch
Poilâne
7 minute walk
Rather than sitting for another full restaurant meal, pick up lunch from one of Paris' legendary bakeries and continue your walk south.
Picnic Option
Continue a few minutes to Jardin Catherine-Labouré, one of Paris' quieter hidden gardens, for an easy picnic before heading farther south.
Up Next → Rue Daguerre
Afternoon
Rue Daguerre
Approximately 30 minute walk
Continue toward Denfert-Rochereau through residential streets until you reach Rue Daguerre, one of Paris' best neighborhood market streets.
Unlike the larger tourist markets, Rue Daguerre feels genuinely local, with florists, cheesemongers, produce vendors, pâtisseries, cafés and specialty food shops lining the pedestrian street.
Up Next → Catacombs of Paris
Evening
Catacombs of Paris
5 minute walk
Arrive around 5:50 PM, giving yourselves time to use the restroom, organize your tickets and enter without feeling rushed.
Know Before You Enter
The route is one-way with no restrooms once inside. Photography without flash is permitted. Please respect the site by not touching the human remains.
Up Next → Dinner
Dinner
Le Cornichon
15 minute walk
Stay in the neighborhood after emerging from the Catacombs rather than crossing the city again. This classic local bistro makes for a relaxed end to the day.
Backup Option
La Chope Daguerre is an excellent nearby alternative if Le Cornichon is full.
Transportation
Primary: Walking
Today's route naturally unfolds on foot. If temperatures climb or energy fades, Metro Line 4 makes returning to the hotel simple.
Transit Ledger
Notes
Today intentionally avoids the major monuments. Instead, it showcases the neighborhoods that make Paris memorable: lingering over coffee, wandering without an agenda, discovering small food shops, and ending with one of the city's most extraordinary historical sites. The Catacombs may be the reservation on the calendar, but the walk through the Left Bank is the real highlight of the day.
